DESCRIPTION:Join us for a trip to the Baltic! \nMeeting place: Meet us in the lobby area\, near the gift shop \nAccessibility: The venue is wheelchair accessible\, with lifts to all floors. Access Statement for BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art \nTravel by car: \nParking spaces are available in the Car Park\, behind the Baltic building. Follow Signage for ‘Gateshead Quays’ and ‘Other Car Parks’ until specific signage for Baltic Car Park becomes visible. Spaces are pay on exit and you can pay by card or cash. \nBlue badge holders park free. There are 4 additional Blue Badge parking spaces directly adjacent to Baltic on South Shore Road. \nTravel by public transport: \nGateshead Bus Interchange or Newcastle Central Station are the closest bus stations. \nThe closest metro stops are Central and Gateshead\, both an 18 minute walk from the Baltic. \nWhat’s on? \nThere’s lots of exhibitions on in the Baltic this January\, one being Heartwood (Sycamore Gap)\, an exhibition of five bespoke prints created from a disc of the trunk of the felled Sycamore Gap tree. \nAnother is Photo-sensitive\, a lightbox commission by Baltic’s Young Producers\, asking ‘How can we protect the planet in the process of making art?‘ \nThere’s also Happy Mart (Artistic pop-up shop)\, a collaboration between textile artist Bianco Perry and ceramicist Alex Sickling. Their work\, all of it available to purchase\, is inspired by finding humour in the everyday\, being out in nature\, hugging the dog and eating a Greggs together. \nCome along for looking at the exhibitions\, browsing the gift shop and popping for a coffee afterwards in the Baltic riverside café!
