DESCRIPTION:Come and join us for a walk and a coffee around Saltwell Park in Gateshead! \nThe park boasts walking routes that are paved and flat\, with a beautiful lake and gardens to walk around. \nThere is also a café to stop at for a hot or cold drink\, where we can either sit in or take away\, dogs are welcome in the café. \nGetting there: \nBy foot \nThe park is easily accessible by foot from many areas of Gateshead. A walk from the centre of Gateshead will take around 30 minutes (also from the nearest metro – Gateshead). \nThe park has entrances on East Park Road\, West Park Road\, Saltwell Road South\, Saltwell View and Joicey Road. \nBy car \nPostcode NE8 4SF will take you directly to the car park. The car and coach park is accessed from Durham Road (A167) via Joicey Road. The car park is free all year round and includes three blue badge spaces. \nBy bus \nThe buses 53 and 54 run regularly from Gateshead Interchange to Saltwell Park. \nThe gardens are free access. \nPlease let Hannah know if you would like to come!

There are 4 additional Blue Badge parking spaces directly adjacent to Baltic on South Shore Road. \nTravel by public transport: \nGateshead Bus Interchange or Newcastle Central Station are the closest bus stations. \nThe closest metro stops are Central and Gateshead\, both an 18 minute walk from the Baltic. \nWhat’s on? \nThere’s lots of exhibitions on in the Baltic this January\, one being Heartwood (Sycamore Gap)\, an exhibition of five bespoke prints created from a disc of the trunk of the felled Sycamore Gap tree. \nAnother is Photo-sensitive\, a lightbox commission by Baltic’s Young Producers\, asking ‘How can we protect the planet in the process of making art?‘ \nThere’s also Happy Mart (Artistic pop-up shop)\, a collaboration between textile artist Bianco Perry and ceramicist Alex Sickling. Their work\, all of it available to purchase\, is inspired by finding humour in the everyday\, being out in nature\, hugging the dog and eating a Greggs together. \nCome along for looking at the exhibitions\, browsing the gift shop and popping for a coffee afterwards in the Baltic riverside café!

I left my full-time employment and set up Ivor Rackham Photography. I now train people to take better photographs\, which is really rewarding work. Just as rewarding is that people keep buying my images; I hadn’t set out to sell them. People also keep asking me to shoot their portraits and events and I love photographing those too. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a stroll around the beautiful ‘hidden gem’ of the Royal Quays Marina\, followed by a soft drink at The Lock. \nMeeting point: 1:30pm on the path behind Royal Quays Marina Standard/Long Stay Car Park\, Coble Dene Road. \nRoute: 1.8km circular route\, walking clockwise around the marina\, starting from the car park and ending with a drink at The Lock Cafe. The route is wheelchair accessible throughout. Midway through the walk\, there is a moderate incline up to Chirton Dene Park\, passing a water mural. We will stop at the bandstand at the top of this path for a short break before continuing on to The Lock\, where the walk ends. \nParking: There are two car parks at the Marina. Both have free blue badge parking (scan your blue badge barcode at the machine before leaving). If you do not have a blue badge\, use the standard/Long Stay Cark Park – this is free for customers of The Lock when you enter your registration number at the entrance to the café.
