Look Ahead North (LAN) is a residential weekend that takes place each year at The Calvert Trust in Kielder. The event sees members from all of the northern branches of Headway come together and enjoy a weekend of activities and socialising.
In 2023 the event took place on 7th March.
Activities
For those who were feeling adventurous, activities such as High Ropes, the King Swing and the Zipcoaster (a zip-wire rollercoaster) were on offer. The team at Calvert Trust are highly skilled and make sure everyone feels safe and secure.
Some of members enjoyed the activities so much that they went straight back to the top and went again! There might have even been some singing all the way down the Zipcoaster!
There were plenty of other activities available, including a boat ride, archery, climbing and bush craft. We were very lucky with the weather this year and it didn’t rain till the morning we were leaving.
It was great to enjoy a weekend of fresh air in the forest! Indoor activities such as arts and crafts and holistic therapies were running throughout the day for members to enjoy.
It was great to meet members from lots of other Headway branches across the north of England. Some new friendships were made, and others were able to meet up with friends from previous visits to LAN. It’s all fun and games until THE QUIZ. That’s when things get serious and it’s every branch for themselves! Although Headway Tyneside didn’t win this year, everyone taking part had a great time working together as a team.
